Recently we met Joe Perez, one of the co-founders behind Tastemade, a mobile food and travel network that was created in the summer of 2012. Joe Perez and his team have enabled an international community of tastemakers to come together and share their passion for great food & travel. We have long been a fan of Tastemade's channel on SnapChat, YouTube, and their beautiful content on Instagram. They have developed a never ending stream of creative original shows and videos reaching over 100 million people a month. The cooking tutorial videos can make anyone a little more effective in the kitchen, and if they work for us - they will work for anyone!

It's safe to say that Mr. Perez isn't the type of guy that loves interviews, so we are glad that he humored answering the following questions to help all of us better understand what it is like to operate what Fast Company calls one of the world's most innovative companies in 2015:
Why did you start Tastemade?
We wanted to build a company around the things we are passionate about, food and travel. Some of the best moments in our lives have been spent around a table enjoying a great meal with people we care about. Special moments at home with family and friends as well as incredible travel experiences with friends we just met. Our mission was to create content that focuses on what we love (food & travel) to help connect people all over the world.
How is Tastemade different?
We believe media is the greatest connective tissue in society today but we also believe there is too much of it. Media like all things must be curated and packaged by people who have taste. When you see something from Tastemade it has been vetted by a global network of tastemakers and formatted for today's mobile generation of consumers.
Any outlets of inspiration?
Our team is constantly being inspired through our creators. We see so many creative people on the cutting edge of food and travel. They are doing things that you cannot read about in a magazine or see on a TV show, they are one step ahead. We are instantly learning from these creators - thanks to their free flowing Instagram feeds, Snaps on Snapchat, YouTube channels and posts on Facebook.
What about Apolis resonates most with you?
We like to be around brands and people that think like we do. We love the soul of the Apolis brand. The aesthetic and attention to detail in the products as well as the socially conscious behavior of the company as a member of a growing community that cares about quality over quantity.
