Community: Tom Nearing, Traction Avenue Series
For our third piece featuring our community we decided to share the story of my roommate, Tom Nearing. Alabama born in 1980, oldest of four siblings and a University of Auburn alumni. Following in his father’s footsteps, Nearing studied civil aviation and become a certified pilot with over 200 hours of travel and surviving one engine failure in a Cessna 152 single engine aircraft in March 2001. With his pilot wings on his vest, he ventured west to California, summer of 2005. His southern perseverance carried him through a series of jobs, from restaurant tables to construction sites. Until he began working for Ralph Lauren at RRL and fine tuned the art of merchandising a masterpiece. He has since perfected our visual displays and in store ‘shops’. Nearing’s attention to detail and classic southern roots make him a close friend and vital team member.
