On Sunday, David Welsh, my wife and I headed out to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl Flea Market. This renowned, eclectic market has been in existence for over 40 years and takes place on the second Sunday of every month, just 20 minutes from our downtown office. In the sea of over 2,500 vendors, we were lucky enough to catch up with some of our favorites (Jack, Owen, and the Baz brothers), sift through their wares, and talk shop about historical military garment details, fabrications, and the good old days. At the end of the day, we scored a few military pieces for Apolis inspiration and a vintage kitchen scale for our home. Although we try to make this Flea Market a regular outing, our plans always seem to conflict with another event or trip. It was great to finally spend an entire Sunday picking through the piles and racks of garments from an era of a forgotten craft.
