Heading to New York to document our series, ‘A Day in the Life of a Modern Activist,’ we couldn’t think of a better friend than James Wilson to keep everything naturally in place by styling the profile. Our friendship with the humble and eloquent man behind Secret Forts began in New York, February 2009. I met up with James and his wife Kim one evening in late February and have been hooked ever since. James provides a genuine glow of American culture in his own personal way. His soft edge started in Nashville and was polished over the past ten years in New York City - cutting wood, crafting furniture, preparing sets, assisting artists, and sharing the world of Secret Forts. At 35 years-old, Wilson’s perspective on ‘doing what I love’ came from an observant mother and farming father. An attitude James reflects with a perfectionist’s work ethic and effortless ability to share his world through a distinct lens. As James is on a constant search for ‘the perfect’ we admire his ability to confidently look pass mistakes as he treasures his marriage and dreams about fatherhood, fly fishing and writing a book.
After huffing around New York for a day, we appreciate his instinctive creativity, classic humor and real smile - not seen in these photos, love it.
