On Thursday, August 19th, we will be introducing our new USA Project with Matteo. We will be releasing a collaborative product assortment and short film sharing the story of our neighboorhood friends at Matteo.
USA PROJECT: Apolis + Matteo
In Los Angeles – a city of 3.8 million people – the Arts District occupies the eastern side of downtown and is surrounded by industrial warehouses, the cultural Little Tokyo District, the historic Union Station, and a large assortment of unique restaurants and boutiques. This neighborhood also consists of an exceptional mix of entrepreneurs and artists, resulting in a thriving community of small businesses. Within this community is a company that has always stood out to us – Matteo. Their facility is only one block away from the Apolis office, and our friendship with Matthew Lenoci, Matteo's founder, has developed into an exciting collaboration.
Matthew was born in Connecticut, and grew up not only in his hometown of Stamford, but also in Italy and North Carolina. The second of three brothers, Matthew was taught by his parents to be true to himself and his beliefs, and his upbringing eventually found him at Harvard, where he received a BA in Philosophy, and then at Stanford, where he earned an MS in Manufacturing Engineering. Matthew credits his education as being a key element in the development of his passion for creative thinking and group collaborations, concepts that have evolved and become the basis for Matteo’s business model.
Although Matthew's schedule is usually packed, he always finds time in the middle of the day to be outside and get some exercise. His relaxed and compassionate character makes it a pleasure to consider him a neighbor and friend.
