Kiesha Michelle’s Story

LOCATION:

La Gonave, Haiti

Tragic circumstances unite people in unexpected ways. On January 12th 2010 people across the globe were captivated with a common desire to restore Haiti. The capital, Port–au–Prince, is the hometown of an old friend, Ricardo Lajoie, and a new friend, Kiesha Michelle. Days after Haiti’s headlines, Ricardo, Urban Outfitters men’s buyer, shared his admiration for people like Kiesha, a resilient 17–year–old with a story like hundreds of youths on the island of La Gonave. With a common hope for restoring the beautiful Creole culture, NAME, a platform to develop long term resources for global development organizations, responded by partnering with charity: water and Invisible Children to create the RESTORE HAITI INITIATIVE for Urban Outfitters.
