On November 15th, my brother Raan and I had the great pleasure of leading a skill-building workshop at Glasswing Shop, Apolis' Seattle retail partner. If you're ever in Seattle, we highly recommend checking this beautifully curated space out — especially if you dig incredible plants, which the shop features in abundance.
During the evening, we got to share tips, insights, and stories from our experiences as entrepreneurs, and participants received a short fill-in workbook on How to Build a Brand With Purpose. We discussed what we really think are the keys to success when growing a brand, including lessons we've learned — and mistakes we've learned from — from running Apolis for over a decade. We encouraged people to consider how they can use their skills to positively impact communities, and stressed the importance of surrounding yourself with people who ultimately care more about your sanity than your creativity. We also talked about our passion for B-corp certification, the importance of being patient, and why starting a business with purpose is not for the faint of heart — but can have a great payoff.
The evening ended with a stimulating Q&A discussion involving the 45+ guests who had taken the time to garner knowledge they can use in their own business endeavors. Afterward, we got to chat with some attendees, and we always love hearing people's individual stories and passions.
Thanks to the Glasswing team and everyone involved in this! We're especially thankful to those who attended, because 100% of ticket sales went to Friends of the Conservatory, a local nonprofit Glasswing is passionate about supporting. The following photostory by the talented AJ Ragasa showcases highlights from the evening.
