On October 26th, we had the pleasure of hosting a reception for the previous finalists of Joe's Blackbook Scholarship at Apolis: Community Centre in SoHo, New York. Joe's Blackbook is a recruiting and consulting agency committed to supporting the next generation of designers, and their annual scholarship awards design students focused on women's and men's fashion with $10,000 toward their senior year school tuition. Raan (my brother) has had the honor of being one of the judges alongside Todd Snyder, Clare Vivier, Scott Sternberg, and many other talented designers.
The evening began upstairs from our flagship SoHo retail space, where Joe's Blackbook hosted a town hall-style Q&A featuring several Joe's Blackbook Scholarship judges, including our friends Eunice Lee (Unis) and Peter Poopat (Common Projects). After that live panel conversation, Apolis hosted a reception where the team behind Joe's Blackbook exhibited portfolios from prior scholarship finalists. It was a memorable evening, attended by over 100 guests, and we are grateful to all those who partnered together to make this event a success. We love hosting events that offer people a chance to connect with local community and hear interesting ideas.
The following photostory by the talented Enki Tovuuch showcases highlights from the evening. We hope you'll join us for our next event, which we'll be announcing in the coming weeks. All our upcoming Apolis: Community Centre events will be listed on this page, so you can always check the page for the latest news!
