Since we opened the doors of Apolis: Common Gallery, our first regionally-branded Apolis retail space in November 2011, we’ve hosted regular Global Citizen gatherings and recently we started our speaking series. The goal of our speaking series is to invite industry leaders to share their brief perspective on how their profession impacts community.
On November 6th we were proud to welcome our third speaking series event at Apolis: Common Gallery located in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles. The goal of our speaking series is to invite industry leaders to share their brief perspective on how their profession impacts & fosters community.
Our third gathering around Trade & Community was hosted by Apolis Creative Director, Raan Parton and Apolis Bangladesh Project Manager, Mohammad Ghayasuddin. Raan and Mohammad will be sharing their experience of fostering community by designing and manufacturing Apolis' best selling Bangladeshi market bag. The conversation and open mic Q&A was led by award-winning photojournalist and filmmaker, Jason Motlagh, who has spent the last year reporting the positive & negative impacts of global textile manufacturing in Bangladesh for leading US & International media (ie: TIME, Washington Post, The Economist, Atlantic). The night finished with a surprise screening of Jason Motlagh's upcoming short film documenting his collaboration with JR's global Inside Out Project in Bangladesh. It was a memorable evening that was attended by over 75+ guests. Special thanks to our friends from Handsome for helping with the hospitality.
We hope you will join us for our speaking series event that we will be announcing in coming weeks. Contact our Service Manager, Hilmar Skagfield, for a personal invite once details for our next event are finalized.
